| Spring update | May 24 2009 |

Well we've made it to Memorial Day Weekend and we haven't had any real consistent weather patterns. One day it feels like spring should the next like winter and then the next summer. We finally did reach the 58 degree soil temperatures that are needed to help improve the bluegrass fairways and the bentgrass greens. We have overseeded several fairways and areas on the fairways that were damaged from some earlier winter conditions, we continue to improve everyday. Beginning the first week in June we will have our full summer crew back and that means that we will begin to work on some projects. This summer our number one priority will be the bunkers on the back nine. We'll be replacing the bunker material and cleaning out the drainage lines. While we are working on the bunkers please be courteous to the workers, we don't want anyone to get hurt. They will move out of your way or wave you on. We hope you enjoy your time on the golf course. If you have any questions regarding anything on the course or anything that we are doing please stop anyone on the crew or contact me @ 737-8142 or dan@landsmeergolfclub.com |

We hope that you will find time to play Landsmeer this summer, if you have thanks for playing. The conditions are the best they ever have been. We have finished up the bunker work on the greenside bunkers on #9. We will begin to start on the bunkers on #10 and #11 in July. We hope to have all the greenside bunkers finished in 2010. The new material that we are using is actually a limestone product, we've found that it is more consistant to play out of, it drains faster and we don't have any material blowing out from the traditional high winds that we have in the winter. Plans for this fall will be leveling the teeing areas on #11 & #13 (oak tees). |

April showers bring May flowers but what do May and June showers bring. They bring us a very soggy golf course. As you can see when you play that we have roped off many areas of the course because of the continued rains. When these areas dry up we'll take the ropes down. We have roped off some of the 3 pars to keep cart traffic resticted to the cart paths. We did this because the carts seem to get closer and closer to the green compacting the area next to the green. This compaction will lead to the loss of turf and hard pan to hit from. Please do not go around the ropes or drop them and drive through, they are up for a reason. Also because of these rains our bunker project on #9 greenside bunkers is behind schedule. We need to have at least 3 days without rain so we can get the crew into the bunkers to dig up the tile lines, replace the pea gravel and then haul the new sand in. We'll post pictures of this when we start. We have seed mix containers available for walkers they are located underneath the deck. Please remember to use your seed mix on your cart and on the tee boxes and enjoy your day at Landsmeer. If you have any questions regarding the course please call me at 712-737-8142. |
